Joseph J. "Jerry" Cox's Obituary
Joseph J. “Jerry” Cox, age 83, passed away Saturday, September 1, 2018. He was born December 7, 1934 in Caspian, MI to Conrad and Josephine (Oru) Cox. Jerry was a 1952 graduate of Muskegon High School and a U.S. Navy Veteran. He married the love of his life Ila Mae Ingalls in Ellsworth, MI on May 21, 1965. He was a devoted husband for 53 years. Jerry was an owner of Cox Accounting and Tax Services for over 56 years. He loved his family, hunting, fishing, enjoyed picking mushrooms, and listening to country music. He was an avid reader and huge Notre Dame fan. SURVIVORS include his wife, Ila; 3 sons: Jerry “J.C.” Cox, John (Lisa) Cox both of Muskegon, Jason (Sara) Cox of Twin Lake; 9 grandchildren: Melodie, Kambrea, Brianna, Caitlin, Dylan, Taylor, Alyse, Ryleigh, Keeley; honorary son, Ben Rios; 2 brothers: Tom Montambo of Muskegon, Frank (Pam) Cox of Twin Lake; sister, Sally Cox; many nieces, nephews, and close friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Maurice “Pete” Cox; sister, Corrine Baker; and his beloved dog, Yorkie. SERVICES for Jerry will be held 11:00 AM Thursday, September 6, 2018 at The Lee Chapel, 6291 S. Harvey St., (231) 798-1100. VISITATION with the family will be from 6-8 PM Wednesday, September 5, 2018. Burial will take place in Laketon Twp. Cemetery. MEMORIALS to the Harbor Hospice Foundation will be appreciated.
