Joseph H. Fara's Obituary
Joseph H. “Joe” Fara, age 51, passed away Wednesday, May 29, 2019 at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born September 25, 1967 in Kalamazoo, MI to Joseph E. and Bernice (Tarno) Fara and lived most of his life in the Muskegon area. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army where he served as a communications specialist in the Greneda War. Joe worked for Greg’s Welding as a superintendent in the oil fields and later worked in maintenance for Snug Harbor. He was recently coming into the Catholic faith and was scheduled to be baptized at Prince of Peace Catholic Church where he had been attending. Joe used God as his power and read the bible daily to help keep fighting. He was always the life of the party – loud and boisterous but always going out of his way to help anyone. Joe was a diehard Lions and Tigers fan and loved to fish. He was an amazing man with a magnetic personality ready and willing to give those “Joe Hugs” to anyone. Joe loved animals, especially his golden retriever “Duke”, his Texas blue lacy “Chloe” and his parakeet “Kimberly”. He will be greatly missed. Survivors include his loving companion of 24 years, Lora Hagstrom; 2 children, Jessica (fiancé, Patrick Craig Young “PCY”) Fara, Tyler Fara; 2 step-children, Nicholas (Katy) Hagstrom, Tara (Nigel Harwryliw) Hagstrom; 2 grandchildren, Scarlett Rose and Liam Patrick Young; 3 step-granchildren, Austin Michael Collett, Jacob Anthony and Kayden Jay Hagstrom; his mother, Bernice Tarno; 1 brother, Kenneth Fara; 1 sister, Cindy Rickard; 1 niece, Crystal Rickard; and special friends, Bill Gaston, Patrick Young, Chuck Crandell, Jeff Krukowski, Willie Rahrig and family; and his mentor, Larry Grenell. Joe was preceded in death by his father, Joseph Fara. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11:00 AM Wednesday, June 5, 2019 at Prince of Peace Catholic Church (1110 Dykstra Road) with Rev. Fr. Godfrey Onyekwere presiding. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the Mass, 10-11 AM Wednesday. Memorial Contributions may be directed to the family.
