I just found out today what happened. I would like to express my condolences to you all. It is a very sad day for me.
I met Joe when I lived in Muskegon in 94 and we graduated together at Orchrd View HS. Once a year I visit Muskegon and during some of my visits I had the pleasure to spend some time with him
He will always be remembered here in Brasil !

Leslie, our family has been paying for you every night. May God be with you during the lonely hours when you need Him most. I wish we could have been there with you, but I'm glad my family got to be. We are all here for you. Please remember that. No matter how your heart is breaking, you are never alone. We love you like the family you are...even if we aren't joined by blood. I send my sympathy to the entire Gabriel family. I regret that I did not know about visitation and the service until they were over. I did not know Leslie and the children but my prayers go out to them. I have been holding you up to the Lord since hearing about Joe last week. Joe's mother & father were dear friends since we were in high school. And I and my late husband, Chuck, lived across the street from the Gabriels when Joe and his brothers were in grade school. Over the years I had heard about Joe working in law enforcement. And the people I have talked to since this awful loss occurred have expressed what a kind and giving person Joe was. From my experience the entire Gabriel family can be characterized in this manner. May God bless you in your time of sorrow.
