Mr. Joseph H. Green's Obituary
Mr. Joseph H. Green, age 84, passed away Wednesday morning, January 8, 2014 in Tampa, Florida. He was born August 31, 1929 in Muskegon to William and Mildred (Dalton) Green. Joe served in the Army National Guard, was a member of the Optimist’s Club and Kiwanis, and was on the Muskegon Catholic Central School Board for several years. He had also held a contractor’s license for 15 years, built six homes, as well as remodeling several others. He worked 35 years for Muskegon Federal Savings and Loan before retiring in 1988. He was a member of St. Mary of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, where he served as an usher. On July 11, 1953 he married Shirley Tierman in Muskegon and she survives him along with five children, Sheryl Kozal of Muskegon, Cynthia (Donald) Schutter of Cedar Springs, Steven (Sue) Green of Muskegon, Mark (Angie) Green of Grand Haven, Scott (Amy) Green of Kent City; 14 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; and a brother-in-law, William Tierman. A MEMORIAL MASS will be celebrated 11:00 Am Saturday, January 18, 2014 at St. Mary of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church with the Rev. Fr. Matthew J. Barnum presiding. VISITATION with the family will be from 6-8 PM Friday, January 17, 2014 at The Lee Chapel, 6291 S. Harvey St., (231) 798-1100. Entombment will take place in St. Mary’s Cemetery.
