Joseph Hammerle Jr.'s Obituary
Mr. Joseph Hammerle, Jr., age 79, passed away Monday, August 11, 2014 in Grand Rapids. He was born on April 12, 1935 in Hart, MI to Joseph and Lucille (Kokx) Hammerle, and resided in the Muskegon area for most of his life. Joe served his country in the Michigan Army National Guard. He worked at Alcoa/Howmet for 52 years, before retiring in 2006. Joe enjoyed riding his bicycle, watching the Detroit Tigers, golfing and occasional trips to the casino. On December 31, 1992, he married the former Cheryl Hildebrandt Scholl, and she survives him along with 5 children, Joe (Wendi) Hammerle, Dara (Brenda) Locke, Darlene (Lewis) Main, Donna Harp, and John Hammerle; 2 step-children, Don (Lynn) Scholl and Christine (John) Carnes; 16 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren; and 2 brothers, Francis (Carol) Hammerle and Edward (Carol) Hammerle. Joe was preceded in death by 2 brothers, Ernest and Adrian Hammerle, and his parents. The FUNERAL SERVICE will be 1PM Monday, August 18 at The Lee Chapel, Sytsema Funeral Homes, Inc. 6291 S. Harvey St. 231-798-1100. VISITATION with the family will be 4-6 PM Sunday, and 1 hour prior to the service. Memorial Contributions in Joe’s name to American Heart Association will be appreciated.
