Joseph S. "Joe" Karchinski's Obituary
Joseph S. “Joe” Karchinski, age 73, passed away Tuesday, May 28, 2024 at Corewell Health – Butterworth Hospital. He was born January 14, 1951 in Muskegon to Clarence and Betty (Veihl) Karchinski and was a lifelong resident of the area. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War, although he never saw combat duty. On January 11, 1975, he married Margo Y. Becklin in Muskegon. Joe worked 26 years at Meijer and retired in 2009 from Johnson Controls. Joe was given the gift of life when he received a double lung transplant in 2013. He loved spending time with family, especially his grandkids and great-grandkids. He loved his dog, Buddy. Joe was a Harley-Davidson Biker and loved to ride with his cousins and attend the Bike Time Festival in Muskegon. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and taking trips to the casinos. Survivors include his loving wife, Margo Karchinski; 3 daughters, Ginger (Sean) Black, Brandy Jones, Tara (Ron) Cribley; 6 grandchildren, Dylan Carpenter, Kayla (Jordan) Peltier, Kiera Black, Kyleigh Cribley, Dusty Jones, Zane Jones; 2 great-grandchildren, Jarod Peltier, Kaia Peltier; 1 brother, William (Shauna) Karchinski; 2 sisters, Debbie (Dan) Wolfe, Amy (Roger) Comes; several nieces, nephews and close friends. He was preceded in death by his son-in-law, Craig Jones and his parents, Clarence and Betty Karchinski. In honoring Joe’s wishes, there will be no public services.
