Joseph E. Lalonde's Obituary
Mr. Joseph E. Lalonde, age 93, entered the gates of Heaven on October 29, 2020 with his family by his side. He was born July 8, 1927 to Dolphis and Mary (Plourde) Lalonde in St. Ignace and moved to the Muskegon area in 1947. Joe was a loving husband, father, grandpa and friend who will be dearly missed and lovingly remembered. He enjoyed playing cards, family reunions, traveling, going to his hometown of St. Ignace every July, rides by the lake, getting ice cream, playing pranks on people and spending time with his grand-dogs. His quick wit, infectious laugh and beautiful smile will be missed by all. Joe was a member of Oak Crest Church of God. He was a U.S. Army veteran who had the honor of serving alongside 7 of his siblings during World War II and a member of the VFW Post #8846. He had been employed at Teledyne Continental Motors for 40 years before retiring. He married Della Arndt on May 28, 1949 and she preceded him in death on September 8, 1972. He later married Marietta Isaac on July 17, 1981. She survives him along with six children: Sharon Pickett, Debi (Richard) Plunkett, Joseph Lee Lalonde, Steven (Karen) Lalonde, Joseph M. (Pamela) Lalonde and Terri Lalonde; 13 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren, 10 great-great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews including a special niece and great-niece, Nancy Frohriep and Lori Lannom. He was also preceded in death by his parents, 7 brothers, 2 sisters and son-in-law David Pickett. A funeral service will be held on November 3, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. at Oak Crest Church of God, 1540 Leonard Avenue, Muskegon, MI 49442. Visitation will begin 1 hour prior to service. Due to Covid restrictions masks will be required. Interment will take place at Sunrise Memorial Gardens. In lieu of fresh flowers, live plants are welcome, or contributions may be made to Elara Caring Hospice. Arrangements by The Sytsema Chapel of Sytsema Funeral and Cremation Services, 737 E.
