Joseph Lloyd Makin's Obituary
Joseph Lloyd Makin, age 76, of Nunica passed away Friday, August 5, 2022, at The Leila and Cyrus Poppen Hospice Residence. He was born September 13, 1945, in Hart, MI to James C. and Ruby E. (Mapes) Makin, Jr.
Joe worked as a roll former for Shape Corporation for 20 years retiring in 2008, and previously worked in road construction. He loved camping, fishing, hunting, prayer meetings at St. Ann’s, and cold beer.
He is lovingly remembered by three daughters: Corena (Paul Furness) Makin, Ranaye Sallgren and Tonya Makin; three sons: Joseph Sallgren, Matthew (Jennifer) Makin, Dennis Makin; many grandchildren and great grandchildren; sister, Janet Trobaugh; brother, John Makin (his identical twin); three stepdaughters: Dawn (Gene) DeCan, Bonnie (Rich) Drier and Beth (Tim) Ernst; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, James Makin, Jr. and mother, Ruby Ego, his sweetheart, Sharon Cooper, sister, Helen Makin, and dear friend, Jappie DeCan. The family would like to give a special Thank You to Dr. Kathleen Young and nurse, Jamie for their special attention they showed to Joe.
A celebration of life service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 13, 2022, with Rev. Dan Anderson officiating at The Spring Lake Chapel of Sytsema Funeral & Cremation Services. Friends may meet the family one hour prior to the service at The Spring Lake Chapel of Sytsema Funeral & Cremation Services, 213 E. Savidge Street, Spring Lake, MI 49456.
