Joseph S. Parcheta's Obituary
Mr. Joseph Parcheta, age 100, of Grand Haven passed away Thursday, September 7, 2017 at the American House. He was born February 21, 1917 in Chicago to Adam and Victoria (Koziars) Parcheta. In July of 1938 he married Olive Thomas and she preceded him in death in 2005.
Joseph was a former member of St. Anthony Catholic Church. After retiring from Continental Motors in 1979 they retired to Port St. Lucie, FL where they were members of Holy Family Catholic Church. They enjoyed an active retirement playing many rounds of golf and square dancing the night away. He also enjoyed fishing, playing shuffle board and were members of the pinochle card club for many years. In his younger years, he boxed in the golden gloves in Grand Rapids. He also raised Christmas trees out in the family farm in Robinson Township.
He is survived by two sons, Jack (Mary) Parcheta of Stillwater, Minnesota, Jerry (Susan) Parcheta of Gregory, MI; five grandchildren: Renee (Michael Johnston) Parcheta, Daniel (Jessica) Parcheta, Tracy Parcheta, Andy (Amanda) Parcheta, and Marya (Brian) Lipiec; two great-grandchildren: Macayla and Lila; brother, Frank (Lucille) Parcheta; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his siblings: Harry, Matt, Helen, and John; grandson-in-law: Jeff Scheidt.
A Memorial Mass will be held 10:00 AM Saturday, October 7, 2017 at St. Anthony Chapel (13421 Green Street) with Father Charles Schwartz officiating. Interment will take place in Robinson Township Cemetery. Please sign the family’s online guestbook at www.sytsemafh.com.
