Joseph J. "Joe" Rahrig's Obituary
Joseph J. “Joe” Rahrig, age 75, passed away Thursday, November 28, 2019 at his home. He was born March 7, 1944 in Muskegon to Joseph F. and Mary (Rafferty) Rahrig and was a lifelong resident. Joe graduated from Muskegon Catholic Central High School Class of 1962 and attended Central Michigan University for 4 years. On May 20, 1967, he married Judith E. Drew, his best friend and wife for 52 years and she survives him. His family was his first priority - his children and grandchildren kept him busy with sporting events, dance recitals and fireside chats. He enjoyed his time spent with family at the cabin on Loon Lake where he would hunt and fish. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved his trips out west hunting mule deer and elk; to Canada fishing walleye and enjoying shore lunch; and hunting turkeys with friends near the Pere Marquette River. Joe was the owner and president of J & M Machine Products, Inc. where for the past 50 years he loved working with his team tackling projects and building strong relationships with his suppliers and customers. He was a longtime member of St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church. Survivors include his loving wife, Judy Rahrig; 3 children, Christopher Rahrig, Peter (Cathy) Rahrig, Janine (Charlie) Sheridan; 3 grandchildren, Morgan Rahrig, Lanie Sheridan, Joey Sheridan; 3 sisters-in-law, Joanne VanOordt, Janice Buck, Diane (Neil) Mullally; several nieces and nephews; and many great friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and 1 sister, Joni Miller. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11:00 AM Thursday, December 5, 2019 at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church with longtime friend and former pastor, Rev. Msgr. R. Louis Stasker presiding. Visitation will be held 5-8 PM Wednesday, December 4, 2019 at The Lee Chapel of Sytsema Funeral & Cremation Services, 6291 Harvey St, Norton Shores, MI 49444 where a Vigil Service will take place at 7:00 PM. Visitation will also be held one hour prior to the Mass on Thursday at the church. Entombment will take place at St. Mary’s Mausoleum.
