Joseph Edward Sherman's Obituary
Joseph Edward Sherman, age 86, of Nunica passed away Tuesday, June 18, 2024, at Trinity Health Hospital in Muskegon. He was born July 21, 1937, in Brighton, Massachusetts, to Paul G. and Margaret M. (Robiecheau) Sherman.
Joseph was a career serviceman, serving his country in the U.S. Coast Guard in the Vietnam War. His total service in the Coast Guard was 24 years; 2 months; and 29 days. He had resided in the area since 1991. Joe married Maureen Czinder on July 18, 2015. He was a member of Nortonville Gospel Chapel. Joe enjoyed woodworking, reading, traveling, singing, writing stories, and always enjoyed dessert after every meal.
He is lovingly remembered by his wife, Maureen Czinder-Sherman; stepdaughter, Tina Hitsman, and her son Christopher Lent, who Joe had a special relationship with; several grandchildren; special cousin, Ethel Stacy, of Pembroke, MA; and stepson, George (Tracy) Hitsman. He was preceded in death by his former wife of 24 years, Ardis Sherman, in 2012, and his two stepsons, Albert Davis and Thomas Davis.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, June 25, 2024, at Nortonville Gospel Chapel with Pastor Joseph O’Neill officiating, and military honors provided by The Charles A. Conklin American Legion Post # 28 Honor Guard. Friends may meet the family one hour prior to the service at church. Memorial contributions to Nortonville Gospel Chapel are appreciated.
