Thoughts and prayers to the Skocelas family and extended families. I loved surprising him on occasion with jalepeno mustard and his love of Notre Dame which drove Pete crazy. I'll remember Joe with a smile on his face, a cold beer in his hand, and the love of his life, Carolyn, by his side. They are together now...once again...dancing the slow polka.

I wish I could be there to share with everyone the so many great memories I have of Uncle Joe. ...Grandpa and him sitting on the sidelines of my softball games cheering me on, like I was his own grand kid...the many parties Aunt Carolyn and him had at their home...and don't forget him polkaing me around the dance floor at grandma and grandpa B's 50th. Thinking of ya'll and sending prayers your way from Texas.
My thoughts and prayers are with the Skocelas family. I have so many great memories of Uncle Joe and Aunt Carolyn. I feel blessed to have had them part of my life as well as the rest of the Skocelas family! I know there were several people greeting Uncle Joe with open arms, and probably a polka band, welcoming him home Friday morning.

I first came to The Muskegon Chronicle in 1977 as a copy editor, and Joe was always ready with a friendly hello. When he learned my wife's family was of Polish ancestry (Wasiura), he never missed greeting me warmly and heartily as "Stash." I'll always remember his cheerful smile, friendliness and willingness to help others. He will be greatly missed.
