Joseph F. "Joe" Sorensen's Obituary
Joseph F. “Joe” Sorensen, age 74, passed away on Sunday, August 28, 2022. He was born on July 21, 1948, to Soren and Maybelle (George) Sorensen in Pocatello, ID. Joe was an adventurous man, calling many places home. He also had a love for nature and while living in Texas he opened his own gardening shop, Sorensen Gardening. He owned and operated Sorensen’s Gardening for about 10 years before he made his way to Missouri. It was there, he met his wife over a cup of coffee. Joe married Wilma Shively on November 19, 2015. Together they cherished endless days filled with love and nonstop laughter. Joe was an avid football fan and enjoyed rooting for the Detroit Lions but loved his University of Michigan Wolverines! He was a true Maize and Blue fan! He took joy in being part of his community and was the president of the resident’s council at Sanctuary of McAuley. Joe was also the most dedicated BINGO player, if he didn’t win in the morning he would in the afternoon. He was a vivacious and outgoing man, who never knew a bad day. Joe was the type of man that could effortlessly fill a room with laughter. He always made time for everyone and was the best listener. His tender loving and strong-willed spirit will truly be missed by all who knew him. He is survived by his loving wife, Wilma Sorensen; daughter, Tracy Reynolds; 2 sons, Warren Kroll and Timothy Kroll; 6 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; 2 brothers, Bill and Jimmy; 4 sisters, Linda, Vicki, Nancy and Caroline; numerous nieces and nephews; and many dear friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; and 2 brothers, Duane and Tom. A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, September 16, 2022, at The Sytsema Chapel of Sytsema Funeral & Cremation Services, 737 E. Apple Ave., Muskegon, MI 49442. A visitation with the family will be held from 10-11:00 AM at the funeral home. He will be laid to rest at Egelston Township Cemetery.
