Joseph A. "Joe" Wallace Sr.'s Obituary
Joseph A. “Joe” Wallace, Sr., age 72, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, December 7, 2022 at home. He was born on February 11, 1950, to Byron and Betty (Sieffert) Wallace, Sr. in Muskegon, MI and has been a lifelong resident. He graduated from Muskegon High School class of 1968. Joe was a proud veteran serving his country in the U.S. Navy. He worked 30 years at CWC Textron, where he was a foundry worker before retiring in 2004. On April 10, 1971, he married the love of his life, Joy Kanaar in Muskegon. Together they cherished 51 years full of love and laughter. Joe had a love for music and had a true passion when it came to playing his guitars. He also enjoyed spending his time in the kitchen whipping together delicious dishes. Above all, he was a family man and cherished the time spent with them. Joe was a loving husband, proud father, doting grandpa and great-grandpa, amazing brother, and dear friend to many. He and Joy were known for their selflessness and willingness to always put others first, especially when it came to their grandchildren. His tender-loving and generous spirit will truly be missed by all who knew him. He is survived by his loving wife, Joy Wallace; 2 children, Marianna (Levi) Doyle and Joseph Wallace, Jr.; 6 grandchildren, Jenna, Jaslynn, Aubrey, Kacey, Brianna Wallace and Mariah Doyle; 4 great-grandchildren, Kion, Kiara, Toran, and Josette; 4 brothers, Byron Wallace, Jr., David (Michelle) Wallace, Terry Wallace and Steven (Richelle) Wallace; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Susan (Robert) Zuidema; brother, Robert Wallace; and sister-in-law, Shirley Wallace. A Celebration of Joe’s Life will be held at 1:00 PM on Wednesday, December 14, 2022 at The Sytsema Chapel of Sytsema Funeral & Cremation Services, 737 E. Apple Ave., Muskegon, MI 49442.
