Josephine A. Gubach's Obituary
Josephine Angeline (Mertens) Gubach passed away on Thursday November 24, 2022. Jody was born on September 6, 1925 in Ravenna, MI to John and Elizabeth Mertens. She married George Gubach on June 15 1946 at Saint Mary's Catholic Church. He preceded her in death in 1989. She was a member at Saint Joseph Catholic Church in Muskegon MI for 48 years before its closing, then Our Lady of Grace until moving to Louisville KY in 2014 with her niece Barbara and husband James Sepanik. Jody became a member of Saint Bernadette Catholic Church in Louisville, KY. She worked at S&H Green Stamps in Muskegon for 30 years, the last 10 years as manager before retiring in 1996. She was also preceded in death by her mother, father, 2 sisters and their husbands. She was the longest living member of the Mertens/Goebel family. She is survived by nieces: Barbara (James) Sepanik and Mary Paparella. Nephews: Michael (Debi) Repta, and Brian (Michele) Minzey. Several great nieces and nephews as well as great-great nieces and nephews. Her many close friends from Saint Bernadette Catholic Church. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday, December 5, at 11:00 AM at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church, 451 S. Getty St., Muskegon, MI 49442. Visitation will be one hour prior to the Mass. Burial will take place at St. Catherine's Catholic Cemetery of Ravenna. Arrangements have been entrusted to The Sytsema Chapel of Sytsema Funeral and Cremation Services, 737 E. Apple Ave., Muskegon, MI 49442.
