Josephine F. Wood's Obituary
Mrs. Josephine F. Wood, age 92, passed away Wednesday, May 26, 2021 in Spring Lake, Michigan. She was born in Conway, Arkansas to Joseph and Josie (Rumker) Walter and moved to Michigan in 1950. Josephine had worked at GTE and Brunswick Corporation prior to her retirement. After retirement, she worked part time for Mercy Health. She was a member of St. Francis deSales Catholic Church and a former member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Josephine loved gardening and enjoyed keeping an active social life. On August 8, 1950, Josephine married Phillip L. Wood Sr. and he preceded her in death in 1992. She is survived by two children, Phillip (Sharon) Wood II and Holly (Todd) Webber; six grandchildren, Katie Wood, Sarah Wood, Phillip “PJ” Wood, Courtney (Jeremy) Cobb, and Troy (Heather) Webber; six great-grandchildren, Jacob, Morgan, Evan, Christian, Nash, and Juniper; sister, Frances McCaig; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband Phillip, Josephine was preceded in death by her parents and 11 siblings, Diederich, Sr. Richard, Pete, Ed, Mary, Johnnie, Hilda, Fred, Margaret, Martha, and Martin. A MEMORIAL SERVICE will be held 12:00 PM Sunday, May 30, 2021 at The Lee Chapel of Sytsema Funeral & Cremation Services, 6291 Harvey St., Norton Shores, MI 49444. VISITATION with her family will be one hour prior to her service. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery. MEMORIALS in memory of Josephine may be directed to the Alzheimer’s Association.
