Mrs. Josephine M. "Jo" Wurn's Obituary
Mrs. Josephine M. “Jo” Wurn, 90, passed away early Friday morning, December 5, 2014. Born February 18, 1924 in London, England, to James F. and Elizabeth (Hackett) Kenny, she married Gerald E. Wurn there on February 16, 1946, after which they moved to Muskegon. Mr. Wurn died in 1991. Josephine was a communicant member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, and its Altar Society. She was a member of Trans-Atlantic Brides Assn., and Past Treasurer of the Irish-American Society. HER SURVIVORS include her children: Cheryl (John) Borchert, Darla (Bill) Ferguson, Timothy (Jill) Wurn and Robert (Margaret) Wurn; 11 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; brothers Kieran Kenny and Patrick (Janet) Kenny; and sister Marie (Tom) Parnis. Her parents, husband, a son Patrick, five brothers and two sisters preceded her in death. Josephine had been a volunteer at the Mercy Hospital Gift Shop, and had served as her sons’ Den Mother during their Scouting years. A MASS OF CHRISTIAN BURIAL will be held for Mrs. Wurn 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, December 9, 2014 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, with Rev. Fr. Antony Britto as Celebrant. Entombment will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery. VISITATION will be 4-7 P.M. Monday, December 8, 2014 at The Lee Chapel, Sytsema Funeral Homes, 6291 S. Harvey St., Norton Shores, MI 49444, phone 231-798-1100, with a Rosary Service at 6:30 P.M. Monday.
