Josephine C. Starkweather's Obituary
Josephine C. Starkweather, age 94, of Grand Haven and formerly of Holland passed away on Monday, September 24, 2007, at a local hospital. She was born August 15, 1913, to Julius and Gertrude (Greig) Howe in Grand View, WI.
Ms. Starkweather worked for many years in Kalamazoo, MI, for American Express. After retiring from American Express at 65, she continued her career in investment services in Baton Rouge, LA, for another 20 years. She moved to Holland in 1998. She was active in the Republican Party and served as Vice Chairman in Kalamazoo County for a number of years.
Survivors include her daughter, Susan (Bill) Stone of Valle Crucis, NC; three sons: Bill Starkweather of Everett, WA, Stuart (Melissa) Starkweather of Bellaire, MI, and Roger (Mary) Starkweather of Grand Haven, MI; five grandchildren: Kevin, John, Nicole, Michael, and Jean; and numerous nieces and nephews. Her son, Stephen (1976), sisters Wilamina Watterson and Helen Davis, and brothers Clinton, Malcolm, and Douglas all preceded her in death.
The service for Josephine will be held at 4:00 p.m. Thursday, September 27, 2007, at VanZantwick Bartels Kammeraad Funeral Home in Grand Haven with Terry Meadows officiating. Friends may meet the family one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Interment will be in Mt. Ever-Rest Cemetery in Kalamazoo.
