Josephine E. Thompson's Obituary
Mrs. Josephine E. “Jo” Thompson, age 93, passed away Saturday morning, January 15, 2011 in Muskegon. She was born March 26, 1917 to George and Elsie (Gruno) Lumley in Clare, MI. Jo moved to the Muskegon area when she was fifteen years old. In 1937 Jo married Raymond Thompson and he preceded her in death in 1958. Jo later married Chester Thompson in 1966, and he preceded her in death in 1998. From 1959 to 1975 she was a school bus driver for Orchard View. Jo previously worked at Hardy Herpolsheimers and the Kroger Store. She was a charter member of Faith Reformed Church, later renamed Hope Reformed. Jo was a loving Mother, Grandmother and Wife. She spent countless hours crocheting foot socks and knee huggers for family, friends and local nursing homes. SURVIVORS include 3 children, John R. (April) Thompson, Robert H. Thompson, James H. (Barbara) Thompson; 7 Grand and 18 Great-grandchildren. Josephine also had three sisters, Ruth, Donna, and Dorothy. A memorial service will be held at 11 am Saturday January 29th, followed by a luncheon, at Hope Reformed Church.
