Joseph J. Swartz's Obituary
Mr. Joseph J. Swartz, age 94, passed away Sunday, January 4, 2004 in Muskegon. He was born on December 3, 1909 in Detroit, MI to John & Anna (Vereb) Swartz, and lived most of his life in the Muskegon area. Mr. Swartz had worked at Campbell, Wyant & Cannon Foundry Company for 47½ years before retiring in 1971. He was a charter member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, the First Slovak Union, and Tatra Hall. On February 9, 1928, he married the former Rose Schmuker, and she preceded in death on September 28, 1998. SURVIVORS include, 2 children, Dorothy (& Robert) Aue and Robert (& Mary) Swartz, both of Muskegon; 4 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. Mr. Swartz was also preceded in death by 1 brother and 1 sister. THE MASS OF CHRISTIAN BURIAL will be 1 PM Wednesday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Rev. Fr. James B. Wyse presiding. VISITATION with the family will be 1 hour prior to the service, from 12-1 PM. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery. For a more lasting memorial, please consider Hospice of Muskegon-Oceana.
