Joseph Peter Fricano's Obituary
Mr. Joseph Peter Fricano passed away early Thursday, January 13, 2011, at the age of 91 years. Born in Grand Haven Township on October 30, 1919 to Anthony and Phyllis (Capitano) Fricano, he was a life resident of this area. He was a US Navy veteran of World War II, and retired in 1985 as Vice President of Operations for Superior Metal Products. Mr. Fricano was a member of Forest Park Covenant Church, Muskegon Heights Eagles, American Legion Post 28, Grand Haven Post 2326 VFW, and the McGraft Park Seniors. His SURVIVORS include his children: Diane Sagala of Muskegon, Donald Durham of Traverse City, Charles Durham of Norton Shores, Jerry Durham of Gary, IN, Peter (Carol) Fricano of Norton Shores, Mary Bennett of Grand Rapids, and Joe (Sherry) Fricano of Grand Haven; many grand and great-grandchildren; a brother, Tom (Yvonne) Fricano ; a sister, Therese (Larry) Harden and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his son, Ronald Durham; and siblings: Genevieve Tlachac, Cosimo (Gus) Fricano, Pauline vonAlbade, and Tony Fricano. FUNERAL SERVICES for Mr. Fricano will be held 1:00 P.M. on Friday, January 21, 2011, at The Lee Chapel, Sytsema Funeral Homes, Inc., 6291 S. Harvey St., Norton Shores, MI 49444, (231)-798-1100 with Rev. Wally Coots officiating and military rites under the auspices of American Legion Post 28. VISITATION will be 5-8 P.M. Thursday, January 20, 2011, and one hour prior to the service on Friday. In lieu of flowers, MEMORIAL CONTRIBUTIONS to Harbor Hospice would be appreciated.
