Jose V. Villa's Obituary
Mr. Jose V. Villa, age 58, passed away Tuesday, February 2, 2010 at his home in Lansing, MI. He was born May 28, 1951 in Muskegon to Julio and Maria (Rodriquez) Villa and lived in the area most of his life. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and was a sergeant in the Vietnam War. Prior to his retirement, he worked 20 years in maintenance at Sun Chemical. He had previously worked for the Michigan State Police and as a social worker. SURVIVORS include his loving daughter, Danielle A. Villa of Grand Haven; his grandson, Josiah M. Gadea-Villa of Grand Haven; his former spouse, Naomi DeBarr of Spring Lake; his step-son, Gabriel DeBarr of Spring Lake; 1 brother, Alvino (Isabel) Villa of South Bend, IN; 6 sisters, Olga (Ricardo) Parra of Indianapolis, IN, Maria McClain of Muskegon, Petra Flores of Muskegon, Julia Diaz of Corpus Christi, TX, Dolores Villa of Muskegon, Theresa (Jose) Retana of Muskegon; 13 nephews and 4 nieces; and special friend, Donna Moen of Muskegon. He was preceded in death by his parents, 1 sister, Margarita Ayala; and 2 brothers-in-law, Margarito Flores and Chip McClain. MASS OF CHRISTIAN BURIAL will be celebrated 10:00 AM Friday, February 12, 2010 at St. Jean Baptiste Catholic Church with the Rev. Fr. Matthew J. Barnum as celebrant. INTERMENT will take place at St. Mary’s Cemetery with military honors offered by the Muskegon County Council of Veterans. VISITATION with the family will be 2-4 and 6-8 PM Thursday at The Sytsema Chapel, Sytsema Funeral Homes, Inc., 737 Apple Avenue, (231) 726-5210. The Rosary will be prayed at 7:30 PM Thursday.
