Joyce Ann Brusseau's Obituary
Joyce A. Brusseau, age 86, passed away peacefully at home on Thanksgiving morning, Thursday, November 27, 2025, in Whitehall, MI. She was born to Russell and Helen (Prusinoski) Shappee on March 21, 1939, in Ludington, MI. In 1959 Joyce married the love of her life, Vern Brusseau, at Our Lady of Grace Church in Muskegon, MI. and went on to spend 52 wonderful years together before he passed away. Joyce enjoyed doing crafts, ceramics, cross stitching, spending time with friends and sharing in laughter and was also an avid golfer with her spouse. She was also an active and faithful member at St. James Church for 30 years where she volunteered with a giving spirit. Joyce’s passing on Thanksgiving was a reminder to friends and family of how thankful all of us are to have had her in our lives. She is survived in death by her children: Jana (Daniel) Harju, Renee Shields; grandchildren: Nicole (Sean) Carmean, Danny Harju, Ben (Randi) Kellner, Nena (Chris) Potts, Courtney Fitt, Matthew (Lauren) Shields, Emily Fitt and 14 great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents: Russell and Helen Shappee, husband: Vern Brusseau; daughter: Jill Best; son-in-law: Mark Shields; siblings: Russell Shappee and Joanne Burns. VISITATION will be Tuesday, December 9, 2025, from 10:00 AM – 11:00 AM at St. James Catholic Church, 5179 Dowling St. Montague, MI. 49437 with a MEMORIAL SERVICE following at 11:00 AM. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to Harbor Hospice in Joyces memory.
