Joyce A. Cantu's Obituary
Mrs. Joyce Ann Cantu, age 83, passed away at her home on Sunday, September 27, 2020. She was born in Muskegon on April 27, 1937 to Leslie and Vivian (Veitenheimer) Peterson. On January 27, 1962, Joyce married John Cantu and they have enjoyed 58 years of marriage. She is survived by her husband John; five children, John Cantu, Jr., Joseph Cantu, James Cantu, Janice Cantu, Jennifer (Ken) Schultz; six grandchildren, Hunter, Joey, Lauren, Alex, Alina, and Anah; two great-grandchildren, Nate and Layla; many family and friends; special friend and sister-in-law, Chris Cantu; and her faithful “therapy cat”, Foster. Joyce will leave a legacy of making people feel good and welcome. She had a special way about her that could always bring a smile to your face and make you happy. She wore many hats (literally and figuratively) and had some fun nicknames: Moes, Lucy, and Crazy Lady Pantyhose to name a few. She was able to strike up and carry on a conversation with anyone she met. She had an infectious laugh and smile that would light up a room. She loved going to the Goodwill stores, casino, out to lunch, or just having a cup of coffee with anyone who stopped over. She could often be seen sitting on her porch swing or picking at her flowers, which she loved to do. However, her greatest gift of all was her grandchildren. She was always beyond proud of them and loved them all dearly. John was the love of her life and it was “Because of you” that their love endured all. A CELEBRATION OF HER LIFE will be held 2:00 PM Saturday, October 10, 2020 at The Lee Chapel of Sytsema Funeral & Cremation Services, 6291 Harvey St., Norton Shores, MI 49444.
