Joyce Carlisle's Obituary
Mrs. Joyce Carlisle, age 75, of Spring Lake passed away Saturday, May 7, 2011. She was born December 18, 1935 in Shelby, Michigan to Ernest and Pearl (Pease) Schmieding.
Joyce had worked for Spring Lake School District as a transportation specialist and she also had worked for Bastain and Blessing Company in Grand Haven. She has been a member at Calvary Church in Fruitport and First Baptist Church in Spring Lake. She had been a member of the Bastian Blessing Bowling League and when her children were young she helped with the scouting program. She enjoyed traveling and sewing, but most of all she loved being a mother and grandmother.
On September 9, 1955 she married Norman Carlisle at Calvary Church in Muskegon and he preceded her in death on August 14, 2002. Joyce is survived by 3 children, David Carlisle of Grand Haven, Steven (Sheryl) Carlisle of Spring Lake and Daniel Carlisle of Grand Haven; daughter-in-law, Jill (Barry Ramsay) Carlisle of Northbrook, IL; 8 grandchildren, Scott (Crystal) and Jacke Carlisle, Josh (Cassidy) and Jared Carlisle, Jane and Charlie Carlisle, Lauren and Adam Carlisle; 1 great granddaughter, Teagan Carlisle; and her brother-in-law, Arden Reed. She was preceded in death by her son, Randy Carlisle; granddaughter, Molly Carlisle, and 2 sisters, Minnie May Reed and Beverly (Harold) Workman.
Services for Joyce will be held 3:30 PM Wednesday at First Baptist Church of Spring Lake with Rev. Doug Bytwerk officiating. Visitation with the family will take place 7-9 PM Tuesday (Tonight) at VanZantwick Bartels Kammeraad Funeral Home in Spring Lake and 1 hour prior to the service at church. Interment will take place in Spring Lake Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in honor of Joyce may be given to the Alzheimer’s Association or First Baptist Church of Spring Lake.
