Joyce B. Denton's Obituary
Joyce B. Denton, age 89, passed away on Sunday, April 14, 2024, at home surrounded by her loving family. She was born on October 2, 1934, to Reginald and Edith (Stone) Chennells in London, England. Joyce graduated from Harold Wood High School class of 1952. She was a typist at Kaltenbach manufacturing for a few years, before dipping her toes in various careers throughout her lifetime. Joyce married the love of her life, Alan Denton on September 18, 1954, in Dagenham, Essex. Together they cherished nearly 70 years full of laughter, adventures and unconditional love. They were blessed with two daughters, Janice and Claire and in the 1960’s they made their way to the states; Michigan became their home. Joyce had a passion for being involved in the lives of her girls, she helped with Brownies, Girl Scouts, and anything she could at their school. She enjoyed giving back to her community and volunteered a lot of her time to various organizations including the thrift store. Joyce also had a special place in her heart for any animal. Above all, she loved spending time with her family, making memories with her grandchildren, cooking, baking, gardening, painting, calligraphy or enjoying a glass of wine with her family. She will always be remembered as a loving wife, wonderful mother and doting Nana. She is survived by her loving husband, Alan Denton; two daughters, Janice (Joseph) Korepta and Claire (Robert) Hogikyan; and three grandchildren, Megan (Matthew) Norris, Spencer Hogikyan and Ashley Buxton. She was preceded in death by her parents; and brother, Kenneth Chennells. A Celebration of Life will be held at 2:00 PM on Thursday, April 18, 2024, at The VanZantwick Chapel of Sytsema Funeral & Cremation Services, 620 Washington Ave., Grand Haven, MI 49419. A visitation with the family will be held one-hour prior at the funeral home. Memorials in Joyce’s honor can be directed to the Harbor Humane Society.
