Joyce Irene Gerber's Obituary
It is with great sadness that our family announces the sudden death of Joyce Irene Gerber on May 30th, 2023. Joyce leaves behind her loving daughter Caroline (Mark) Leaper of Oakville, Ontario. Joyce was exceptionally proud of her incredible grandchildren, Katie (deceased), Sarah and Andrew. She is survived by her niece Sally, great niece Melissa and great nephews Christopher and Andrew, all of whom held a special place in her heart, as well as her stepson Kurt Gerber and his wife Elaine whom she was incredibly fond of. Joyce will be terribly missed by her devoted friend, Roy Overly. Joyce was predeceased by her brother Ron Recce and her husband Roland Gerber.
Joyce began life in the UK, where after school she was formally trained as a seamstress. Her attention to detail and precision in her work made her an expert in this field. After moving to Canada, Joyce began a new career in accounting and bookkeeping. Her analytical skills and dedication in this area gave her enormous success. We were all taught well to balance a cheque book and watch our pennies! Later, after moving to Michigan over 30 years ago, she developed deep roots in Spring Lake, making many lifelong friends that brought her many days of laughter, shopping and coffee get togethers. Joyce's friends all over the world brought her so much comfort and a heart full of joy.
Joyce brought elegance, joy and love with her everywhere she went. She spent many years travelling the world and visited many countries. She was especially devoted to her family, with whom she shared many memories, vacations and casino trips. Joyce had a passion for ballroom dancing from an early age. She was a longtime member of the Social Dance Studio of Grand Rapids, where she enjoyed spending many hours dancing with grace and elegance.
