Joyce I. Hathaway's Obituary
Joyce I. Hathaway, age 92, met her Lord and Savior on Saturday, April 1, 2023, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on December 6, 1930, to Cecil “Leroy” and Laura (Smith) Browers in Muskegon, MI and has remained a resident most her life. On November 16, 1957, she married the love of her life, Allan Hathaway in Muskegon. Together they cherished 62 years full of love and laughter. Joyce dedicated 20 years working hard at Whitehouse Cannery on the assembly line. She then dedicated her time at home making sure the fort ran smoothly. Joyce enjoyed spending her time playing BINGO, the lotto and pressing her luck at the casino. She loved talking car rides by the lake, while enjoying her favorite flavor of ice cream. You could always find her watching another episode of I Love Lucy or in her later years watching WWE Smack Down! She had a passion for birds and enjoyed making her own homemade nectar for her hummingbirds. Joyce was a generous woman with a heart full of love; always taking care of others. Her loving personality was balanced with the perfect amount of spice and spunk. She will always be remembered as a loving mother, doting grandma, wonderful sister and dear friend to many. She will be missed by all who knew her. She is survived by her two sons, Jeffery Hathaway and Paul (Melanie) Hathaway; two grandchildren, Jessica (Bobby Heether) Hathaway and Abbi (David Guild) Hathaway; four step-grandchildren, Mariah Bartos, Isiah Bartos, Abbygail Bartos and little Reece Bartos; great-grandchildren, Kolton, Kali, Allenia and Brenden; step great-grandchildren, Rilie, Brenden and Forrest; sisters, Betty, Beverly and Cindy; and brothers, Ed and Clifford. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Allan Hathaway; sister, Mary; infant brother, Jerry David; and brothers, Jack and Leroy. A Funeral Service will be held at 1:00 PM on Wednesday, April 5, 2023, at The Sytsema Chapel of Sytsema Funeral & Cremation Services, 737 E. Apple Ave., Muskegon, MI 49442. A visitation with the family will be held one-hour prior. Joyce will be laid to rest with her husband at Egelston Township Cemetery.
