Joyce L. Horness' Obituary
Joyce L. Horness, age 80, passed away on Tuesday, November 30, 2021. She was born on May 3, 1941, to Otis and Mildred (Foster) Romans in Bono, Arkansas. Joyce served as a social worker for the state of Michigan for over 20 years until her retirement. She loved her family very much. She also loved to sing and was very active in her church Central Assembly of God, many political causes, and she was always reaching out and giving to those in need. She is survived by her brother Otis/Butch (Judy) Romans; her children, Gayle Cunningham, David (Marian) Lodes, Shawn (Jean) Lodes, Keith (Michelle) Lodes, Kevin (Ester) Lodes; grandchildren, Ben and Nathan (Torei) Cunningham, Lydia (David) Vaughn, Erin (Stephen) Prendergast, David Lodes, Annalisa (Michael) Gancer, Alex (Mikaela) Lodes, Michael Lodes, Tiffany (Steven) Michanowicz, Abreil, Blake, Raquel, Alyssa, Kylee, Jordan and Kiersen Lodes; and 11 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Jean Brooks and Patsy Romans; and 2 beloved husbands, David Lodes and Marcus Horness. A memorial service for Joyce will take place on Saturday, December 11, 2021, at 2:00 PM at Central Assembly of God Church (896 Home St.) Visitation with the family will take place one hour prior to the service. For a more lasting memory (in lieu of flowers) donations in Joyce’s name can be made out to Samaritan’s Purse.
