Joyce E. Johnson's Obituary
Joyce E. Johnson passed away on Friday, May 29, 2026, at the age of 98 in North Muskegon, Michigan. She was born on August 27, 1927, to Edwin and Clara (Olsen) Wiersma in Muskegon, MI. Joyce was a member of First Congregational Church in Muskegon. She enjoyed volunteering via The Cherry Guild at Hackley Hospital Gift Shop for 50 years. Joyce worked hard at and took pride in caring for their Muskegon Lake home for 71 years. She was a competitive golfer, and one trip she often spoke of was an impactful dental care trip to Jamaica, where she assisted her husband, Dr. Kenneth Johnson, DDS.
On December 14, 1951, she married Dr. Kenneth A. Johnson. After celebrating 71 years of loving partnership, he preceded her in death in 2023. SURVIVORS include their son, Bradley, and wife, Denniell Johnson, of Norton Shores; 5 grandchildren, Scott, Carl, Mandy, Sonja, and Dallas; 7 great-grandchildren, Morgan, Allie, Sierra, Sean, Abbey, Jordan, and Kaylee; and 1 great-great-granddaughter, Zoey.
Joyce was also preceded in death by her parents; son, Scott Johnson; siblings, Phyllis (Anthony) Tourre, Roger (Maxine) Wiersma, Marjory (Warren) Horness, Shirley (Howard) Bailey, Jack (Olga) Wiersma, and Jerry (Lois) Wiersma; brother-in-law, Byron Johnson; and mother- and father-in-law, Mable and John Johnson.
Following her wishes, cremation will take place, and a private gathering will be held. MEMORIALS are requested to be made to The Muskegon Rescue Mission or Muskegon Salvation Army.
