Joyce A. Johnson's Obituary
Joyce A. Johnson, age 91, wife of Karl K. Johnson, went to be with Jesus on Tuesday, March 7, 2023. She was born to John and Violet (Riddle) Visger in Levering, MI. On November 22, 1950, she married the love of her life, Karl Johnson in Muskegon, MI. Together they cherished 58 years full of love and laughter. He preceded her in death on July 9, 2009. Joyce and Karl spent many days working side by side at U.S. 31 Motor Sales where she dedicated her time as a bookkeeper for 30 years before retiring in 1989. Her goal in life was serving the Lord, her family and others. She was a longtime member of Calvary Church, where she taught Sunday school and assisted during funerals. Joyce enjoyed spending her time traveling and fishing alongside Karl. She was blessed with a green thumb when it came to gardening and flowers. Joyce was talented in both watercolor and oil paintings and had a love for cooking. She enjoyed spending time with her family around the table making sure each person got their fill. Her tender-loving and generous spirit will be missed by all who knew her. She is survived by her four sons, James (Ruth) Johnson, Donald Johnson, Thomas (Norma) Johnson and Patrick Johnson; eight grandchildren, Craig (Alexandra) Johnson, Holly (Ryan) Gauper, Joshua Johnson, Jonathan Johnson, Shania (Justin) Oleson, Isaac Johnson and Rachel Johnson; three great-grandchildren, Grace, Lucy and Luke; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Karl Johnson; sister, Ruth (Richard) Kring; brothers, David Visger, Robert Visger, Howard Visger and Ellis Visger. A Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, March 18, 2023, at Shoreline Christ Fellowship Church, 209 E. Ellis Rd, Muskegon, MI 49441 with a visitation one-hour prior. A Visitation will be held from 6-8:00 PM on Friday, March 17, 2023, at The Lee Chapel of Sytsema Funeral & Cremation Services, 6291 S. Harvey St., Norton Shores, MI 49444. She will be laid to rest at East Dalton Oakhill Cemetery at 1:00 PM on Monday, March 20, 2023. Share memories with the family at www.sytsemafh.com.
