Joyce Imogene McAuley's Obituary
Joyce Imogene McAuley, age 91, passed away unexpectedly surrounded by her family on April 30, 2026, at Trinity Health Hospital in Muskegon, Michigan. Joyce was born on September 9, 1934, to Willie and Alice Harbuck in Cusseta, Georgia. On November 20, 1961, Joyce married James McAuley in Ravenna, Michigan. James preceded Joyce in death in 2010.
Joyce loved caring for her flower garden, spending time at the casino, and going to garage sales. Joyce also had a special place in her heart for her grandchildren, whom she loved deeply. She especially enjoyed attending their sporting events and cheering them on.
Joyce will be dearly missed by her children, Linda Doane (special friend, Tim Rusche) and Cheryl (Jim) Helsen; grandchildren, Chad (Marissa) Doane, Ashley (Jeff) Nutt and daughters Taylor and Joslyn, Alyssa (Evan) Patterson and children Charlotte, McKenzie and Kaden; siblings, Earl (Bungie) Harbuck and Janice Saint; brother-in-law, George McCleary; and sister-in-law, Helen (Ken) Karafa. In addition to raising her own children, Joyce lovingly opened her home to other children she treated as her own: Isaiah Nutt, Adam Nutt, Ryan Nutt, and Brandon Nutt.
Joyce is preceded in death by her husband, James McAuley; daughter, Jamie McAuley; son-in-law, Donald Doane; 3 brothers and 3 sisters.
A visitation will be held Sunday, May 3, 2026, from 4 pm to 6 pm at the Ravenna Chapel of Sytsema Funeral and Cremation Services, 3570 Thomas St, Ravenna, MI 49451. A private burial will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Ravenna Fire Department.
