Joyce Julia Miller, age 88, met her Lord and Savior on Saturday, February 18, 2023. She was born on April 14, 1934, in Montague, MI to Fay and Weltha (Truax) Rose. She attended Twin Lake Elementary School, spent two years in southern California in her teens, but graduated from Muskegon High School in 1952. On August 16, 1952, she married Michael J. Miller at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Together they had four sons and three daughters. Joyce was a faithful member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Muskegon Heights for 70 years. She was a longtime member of the altar society and enjoyed volunteering her time at the church, teaching CCD, working on the playground, lunchroom, library and school offices. Joyce loved to dance, especially the polka with her husband, Mike, and taking long drives up North for Polka festivals. She also loved spending time with her family at Wolf Lake or up North in the Grand Traverse area. She was an avid reader and crossword puzzler. For 20 years, Joyce and her daughters had a weekly standing Scrabble date. She will always be remembered as a loving wife, proud mother, doting grandma and great-grandmother, and dear friend to many. Her radiant smile, quick wit, ready sense of humor, and kind heart will be greatly missed. She is survived by her husband, Michael Miller; children, Timothy (Diane) Miller, Peggie (John) Grabner, Julie Sidock, Greg Miller, and Joseph Miller; 13 grandchildren, Lilly, Evan, Sarah, Jenn, Rachel, Rhonda, Jason, Valerie, Scott, Bailey, DJ, Jacob, and Amy; 11 great-grandchildren; and special niece, Kelly. She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Mary Jill Miller; son, Michael J. Miller; four brothers, two, sisters; and daughter-in-law, Becky Miller. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, February 23, 2023, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 150 E. Summit Ave, Muskegon Heights, MI 49444. A visitation with the family will be held from 10-11:00 AM at the church. Joyce will be laid to rest at St. Mary’s Cemetery.
