Mrs. Joyce Marie Murphy-Mark's Obituary
Mrs. Joyce Marie Murphy-Mark, age 73, passed away early Sunday morning, September 23, 2012. She was born August 23, 1939 in Muskegon to Harold and Betty (West) Mathes. For 28 years she was the owner/operator of the Sportsman Bar before retiring. She was also on the Muskegon Heights Board of Commerce and the Pay Board Commission, and was a member of the Lithuanian Club. Joyce was a loving and caring mother and wife, and dear friend to many. She will be greatly missed by all. On June 21, 1960 she married Bernard “Doug” Murphy in Muskegon and he preceded her in death on in 1989. She then married John W. Mark in Muskegon on September 10, 2005, and he survives her along with 2 children, Bernard H. “Doug” (Kelly Dyer) Murphy of Muskegon, Tressa M. (Doug) Melching of Fruitport; 6 grandchildren, Sarah (Erik) DeLaRosa, Ashlyn (Jeff Doom) Murphy, and Dustin Murphy, Brandon Murphy, Nick and Joseph Melching; 2 great-grandchildren, Carson Murphy and Landon DeLaRosa; 2 step-children, Rob (Diane) Mark, Steve (Camille) Mark both of Muskegon; 5 step-grandchildren, Zack, Alex, Katelyn, Christopher, and Jennifer Mark; and a special friend, Judy Bendiner. She was also preceded in death by her brother, Roger Mathes and her step-sister, Carole Hackney. SERVICES will be 11:00 AM Thursday at The Walburn Chapel, 1547 W. Sherman Blvd., (231) 759-8565, with Rev. John H. Brown officiating. VISITATION with the family will be from 6-8 PM Wednesday. Burial will take place in Norton Cemetery.
