Joyce M. Weersing's Obituary
Joyce M. Weersing, age 90, passed away Tuesday, December 29, 2020. She was born October 31, 1930 in Muskegon to Wesley and Luci (Balkema) Matthews. On June 4, 1948, she married Gordon B. Weersing in Muskegon and he preceded her in death on August 28, 2003. Joyce worked over 40 years for Teledyne Continental Motors prior to her retirement in 1993. She enjoyed spending time with family, reading and cooking, and watching the birds and squirrels off her patio. She was a U of M, Detroit Tigers, and Lions sports fan, and also liked watching Tiger Woods play golf. Joyce is survived by her daughter, Nancy (David) Price; 3 grandchildren: Kevin (Chiho) Price, Andy (Tracy) Price, and Brock (Kaley) Weersing; 4 great-grandchildren: Adrianna and Aubrey Price, Colson Weersing, and Sana Price; 2 sisters: Ellen Johnson and Pat (Frank) Swain; many nieces and nephews; and a host of close friends at Park Terrace. She was also preceded in death by a son, Scott Weersing; 3 brothers: Robert, Gene, and Bernard “Butch” Matthews; and a sister, Marvella Freres. According to her wishes, there will be no services. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Noah Project or the Harbor Hospice Foundation will be appreciated.
