Joyce Elaine Fritz's Obituary
Joyce Elaine Fritz, age 80, of Grand Haven passed away Wednesday, July 21, 2010, at Heartwood Lodge Hospice Residence in Spring Lake. She was born May 2, 1930, in Grand Haven, to Krien and Marie (Nichols) VerBerkmoes, Sr., and she married David Fritz Sr. on May 26, 1948, in Grand Haven.
Joyce graduated from Grand Haven High School and played the drums in the band. She attended St. Paul’s United Church of Christ and enjoyed knitting, (especially sweaters which she gave to many special friends), and spending time with her family. She liked going to the Clover Bar Restaurant, and still playing the drums, (she last played with the Scottsville Clown Band at the Eagles Club three years ago).
She is lovingly remembered by her husband, David Fritz, Sr.; 2 daughters, Cynthia (special friend James Moreno) Fritz of Battle Creek and Teresa (Kevin) Swaitowski of Kalamazoo; 3 sons: William R. (Pat) Fritz of Carsonville, MI, Michael (Jan) Fritz and David L. (Pam) Fritz Jr., both of Grand Haven; 8 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Mary (Russ) TenHagen of Grand Haven; She was preceded in death by her son, Rodney, a brother, Krien, Jr., and sister, Doris.
The service for Joyce will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, July 26, 2010, at VanZantwick Bartels Kammeraad Funeral Home in Grand Haven with Rev. Larry Dannemiller officiating. Friends may meet the family 2-4 p.m. Sunday, July 25, at the funeral home in Grand Haven. Interment will be in Lake Forest Cemetery.
