Joycene Wolffis' Obituary
Mrs. Joycene Wolffis, age 91, passed away Saturday, March 20, 2021 in Muskegon. She was born on September 9, 1929 in Muskegon to Johannes and Anna (Fischer) VandeKoppel, and resided in the area all of her life. Joycene was a long time member of Unity Reformed Church, where she was involved with the choir and played the organ for 50 years. She was an avid reader, and enjoyed studying genealogy. Joycene worked for many years as a RN at Hackley Hospital. On April 7, 1949, she married Harold Jay Wolffis and he preceded her in death on October 18, 2007 after 58 years of marriage. SURVIVORS include two children, Douglas Wolffis and Renee (Robert) Medema; four grandchildren, Brian (Alysia) Medema, Laura (Dr. Matthew) Hofkens, Steven (fiancée, Mary) Medema, and Matthew (Jennifer) Medema; 10 great grandchildren, Sydney, Claire, Miranda, Joel, Reese, Anthony Joseph, George, Madelyn, Emma and Noah; brother, Paul (Aileen) VandeKoppel; step-brother, John (Barb) Grootenhuis and step sister-in-law, Karen Grootenhuis. Joycene was also preceded in death by son, Lee Wolffis in 1961; and step-brother, Robert Grootenhuis. FUNERAL SERVICES will be 11 AM Thursday, March 25, 2021 at Unity Reformed Church with Rev. David Celeskey officiating. VISITATION with the family will be 1 hour prior to the service, from 10-11 AM Thursday. Burial will take place in Norton Cemetery.
