Judith Joyce Arterburn's Obituary
Judith Joyce Arterburn, age 77 of Bradenton, passed away on Monday, January 11, 2021. She was born on March 14, 1943 in Hillsdale, MI to Arthur and Dorothy (Adams) Oberlin.
Judy attended Ferris State University where she met her loving husband, Jim Arterburn. They married on January 5, 1963 in Hillsdale, MI. They just celebrated their 58th wedding anniversary. Jim and Judy lived in Pontiac, MI until moving to their home of 37 years in Union Lake/Commerce, MI, where they became lifelong friends with so many. After retiring they shared their time between Spring Lake, MI and Bradenton, FL. Judy enjoyed traveling, watching sunsets, card games, board games and puzzles, getting her nails done, and spending time with her friends and family. She always wore bright colors and a contagious smile. Judy lived a life full of love and laughter. She was an inspiration and joy to all who knew her, hence her middle name Joyce. Her loving ways, humor and thoughtfulness will be carried on by all who loved her.
Judy will be lovingly remembered and missed by her husband of 58 years, Jim; her children, Susan (Paul) Govan of New Boston, MI, Bob (Chris) Arterburn of Grand Haven, MI, Ken (Mary) Arterburn of Davison, MI and Sheri Arterburn of Spring Lake, MI. Her grandchildren, Steven (Janessa) and David (Katlin) Arterburn; Kayla, Kyrsten (Christopher) and Gavyn Gallagher; West Arterburn; and Justin, Natalie, Lydia, Mitchell and Derek Koetsier; Brothers Gerry (Linda) Trumper; Kim (Cyndi) Oberlin; Brother-in-law Buzz Arterburn; sister-in-law, Marjorie (David) Babcock; many nieces and nephews and her dear friends Judy Terpstra, Joan Arteaga, and Jennie Kaufman. She was proceeded in death by her dad: Arthur (Thelma) Oberlin; her mom Dorothy Oberlin, Her mother and father-in-law Harry and Mary Arterburn; her brothers; Terry Trumper and Art Oberlin, and her sisters-in-law, Pam Arterburn and Kay Oberlin.
A MEMORIAL SERVICE will be held 1:30 PM Saturday, May 22, 2021 at The Lee Chapel of Sytsema Funeral & Cremation Services, 6291 S. Harvey St., Norton Shores, MI 49444 with Rev. David Gross presiding. VISITATION with her family will be from 11:30 AM – 1:30 PM prior to her service. MEMORIALS in memory of Judy may be directed to Leader Dogs For the Blind of Rochester Hills (leaderdog.org).
