Judith Anne Geyer's Obituary
Judith Anne (Sexton) Geyer passed away peacefully Friday, August 4 after a brief illness. She was born October 26, 1941 in Teaneck, New Jersey to Harold and Victory “Chickie” Sexton. Judy is survived by her loving children: Tracy (Dr. Jeff) Levitt, Meredith (Rodger) Dean, and Dan (Jean) McCollom. She was the adored grandmother of: Annie (Ryan Dooley) McCollom, Evan (Matt Mauro) Dean, Matt (fiancée Chloe Scamehorn) McCollom, Derek McCollom, Jared (Paige Johnson) McCollom, Lauren Levitt, and Adam Levitt.
She was a beloved mother, grandmother, and friend to all. Judy worked in leadership roles for MOKA Corporation for over 34 years and was a lifelong champion for those with special needs, working for and with people who have disabilities in organizations whose missions are to promote quality services and equal opportunities. Judy was a CARF program surveyor and a passionate volunteer for the Special Olympics.
A longtime resident of the Muskegon area, she enjoyed time at the beach and being in nature. Judy’s happy place was her farm near Ferry, MI where she lived for many years with her husband Herb Geyer, who preceded her in death in 1996.
Judy was known for her iconic dimples, infectious laugh, warm heart, and selflessness. Everyone was always welcome at Judy’s and would be greeted with a giant hug and a plate of food. To be of service to other people and to love unconditionally was her true calling.
A celebration of her life will be held at a later date. It is suggested that those who wish to further honor the memory of Judy Geyer may do so by making a contribution to the Special Olympics or a Charity of one's choice.
“May the road rise up to meet you. May the wind be always at your back. May the sun shine warm upon your face; the rains fall soft upon your fields and until we meet again, may God hold you in the palm of His hand.”
