Judith "Judy" Valeria (Haack) Ryan's Obituary
Judith "Judy" Valeria Haack Ryan passed away Sunday January 20, 2019 due to health complications. Judy was born August 1, 1940, the eldest of 3 children, to Valeria Storm and Robert Duncan Haack in Muskegon, MI. Judy was married to Jeremiah William Ryan of Muskegon, MI (deceased) and is survived by her 3 children, Kim Baines of Phoenix, AZ, Rob Ryan and Michael Ryan both of Grand Haven, MI, as well as her 2 brothers, Bob Haack of Grand Rapids, MI and Scott Haack of Ferrysburg, MI.
Judy was an alumna of Michigan State University with two master's degrees, a member of several academic societies and the Pi Beta Phi Sorority. She had a long career as a high school English teacher at Grand Haven High School, from which she retired as Head of the English Department. Judy was also an active volunteer at North Ottawa Community Hospital and Hospice of North Ottawa Community. Judy is best remembered for her loyalty to friends, commitment to her students, generosity to loved ones, her playful wit and sense of humor.
A private graveside service will be held for close family at Lake Forest Cemetery in Grand Haven, MI. A memorial celebration is being planned for extended family and friends in the future. The family is being served by Sytsema Funeral & Cremation Services – The VanZantwick Chapel.
