Judith Rose (Knight) Marlan's Obituary
Judith Rose Marlan, age 74, passed away on February 18, 2014. She was born in Grand Rapids, MI on December 15, 1939 to Howard and Thelma Knight. Judith graduated from Muskegon Catholic High School in 1958. After high school she found work at Howmet and was married to Leonard Thomas in 1961. In 1968 she married Robert Marlan and soon after returned to school, graduating from Muskegon Community College in 1977 as an LPN. She worked for many nursing homes in the Muskegon area and the Muskegon Regional Center for many years. In 1991 she moved to Seward, Alaska and worked at the state prison there. She eventually returned to Michigan and worked for Porter Hills Nursing Home in Grand Rapids until her retirement. She was an adventurous, funny, devoted, caring individual who will be deeply missed. SURVIVORS include her four children, Gary Kloock, Dawn (Scot) Herbst, Doug (Nadine) Thomas, and David (Esther) Marlan; grandchildren, Davyd (Christine) Thomas, Marc Thomas, and Kaelee Herbst; great grandchildren, Kisa and Piper Thomas; sister, Pamela Chimel; brother, Phil (Susan) Knight; sisters-in-law Gertrude and Sandy Knight; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Alan and Harry Knight. A MEMORIAL SERVICE will be held at 11 AM on Wednesday February 26, 2014 at The Lee Chapel 6291 S Harvey St 231-798-1100 with Rev. Daniel Anderson officiating. VISITATION will be held one hour prior to the start of the service. Memorial Contributions can be made to the American Diabetes Association.
