Judith L. "Judy" Potter's Obituary
Judith L. “Judy” Potter, age 82, passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 9, 2026, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on May 9, 1944, to Kenneth and Beulah (Barnhard) Osborn Sr. in Muskegon, MI, where she remained a lifelong resident. On November 29, 1959, Judy married the love of her life, Alfred “Al” Potter. Together they shared 35 wonderful years of love, laughter, and devotion while building a beautiful family. Al preceded her in death on August 5, 1995. A faithful servant of the Lord, Judy was a longtime member of Ravenna Assembly of God, where she faithfully worshipped and raised her children in the Christian faith. In her younger years, she enjoyed sewing and crocheting, and throughout her life she found joy in bowling and playing BINGO. Judy also earned a black belt in Tae Kwon Do, a remarkable accomplishment that often surprised her grandchildren. Above all else, Judy treasured the time she spent with her family. Whether gathered around the table for a spirited game of Phase 10, playfully protesting when the cards weren't going her way, or filling the room with laughter through one of her unforgettable pranks, she had a gift for creating joyful memories. Her family was her greatest blessing, and nothing brought her more happiness than being surrounded by those she loved. Judy will be remembered for her unwavering love, playful spirit, and generous heart. She was a devoted mother, cherished grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother, a beloved sister, and a dear friend. Her love and laughter will live on in the hearts of all who were blessed to know her, and she will be deeply missed. She is survived by her five children, Janet (Brad) Smith, Jeff (Nita) Potter, Dave (Bonnie Miller) Potter, Alfred K. (Amy) Potter and Teresa (George) Tindall; 19 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; 15 great-great-grandchildren; sister, Carolyn Brooks; numerous nieces and nephews; many dear friends; and cherished cat, Mittens. Judy was preceded in death by her parents; loving husband, Al Potter; two sisters, Marian (Arnold) VanderKooi and Margie Ray; two brothers, Kenneth (JoAnn) Osborn Jr. and Orville (Betty) Osborn; and brother-in-law, Wayne Brooks. A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, July 20, 2026, at Outpouring Worship Center, 11811 Heights Ravenna Rd., Ravenna, MI 49451 with visitation one-hour prior at church.
