Judith Kay Riegler's Obituary
Mrs. Judith Kay Riegler, age 82, passed away at her home in Muskegon, Michigan on Sunday, May 31, 2026. Judy was born in Muskegon on March 17, 1944 to Andrew and Dorothy (Hepworth) Plamondon. She married Robert E. Riegler on October 4, 1975. Robert and Judy were co-owners of Leo Riegler Corp., which specialized in well drilling and elevator casings. Following a work-related accident, Judy and Robert sold the business in 1990, and Judy became Robert’s full-time caregiver until his passing in 2016. She was an avid collector of many items, including playing cards, spoons, matchbooks, eggs, miniature figurines, china, blue glass, seashells, rocks, Anchor Hocking glassware, Monopoly games, coins, and John Wayne memorabilia. She enjoyed clogging, arts and crafts, and producing and directing follies performed by her friends and family. She enjoyed spending time watching movies, playing games, and many sleepovers with her grandchildren. Judy and Robert spent many winters at their home in Englewood, Florida, and enjoyed traveling with the Orchard View Travelers and going on cruises. She is survived by five children, Leasha (Mike) Johnson, Robert (Kathy) Smith, Ryan (Becky Pope-Smith), Lee Ann (Randy) Wilcox, and Randy (Trisha) Smith; four step-children, Sue (Lee) Raab, Tracey Vermeulen, Sandy Rudder, and Dina Bates; 15 grandchildren, Jennifer (Tim) Franske, Stephanie (Cory Quartana) Neisner, Kristina (Adam) Engle, Rob (Jennifer) Smith, Sara (Austin) Stone, Jacqueline (Erik Saterile) Smith, Joshua Smith, Amber (Jacob Wright) Wilcox, Valerie Wilcox, Kyle (Lea) Wilcox, Gavin Wilcox, Jacob Smith, Cameron Smith, Krista Rudder, and Michael Rudder; 11 great-grandchildren; and brothers, Alvin “Andrew” (Patricia) Plamondon and Marvin Plamondon. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert; parents; step-son, Steven Riegler; step-son-in-law, Ken Bates; brother, Dennis Plamondon; and sister, Maxine Heim. VISITATION with Judy’s family will be held from 1-2:30 PM Monday, June 8, 2026 at The Lee Chapel of Sytsema Funeral & Cremation Services, 6291 Harvey St., Norton Shores, MI 49444.
