Judith A. Zuidema's Obituary
Mrs. Judith A. Zuidema passed away at home, early Friday morning following a long illness. She was born on October 21, 1934, the 4th of 7 children to Gerald and Jessie (Vanderhoof) Cotton. She married Mr. Douglas R. Zuidema on June 17, 1961 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Muskegon where they have remained faithful members. She was also a member of the St. Mary’s Church Altar Society, First Catholic Slovak Union “Tatra Hall” and was a former volunteer for the March of Dimes. Judy was employed at Lee Printing for 16 years, retiring in 1997. She enjoyed arts and crafts and going to the casino’s with Doug but, it was her family, children and grandchildren that captured her heart and gave her the most enjoyment. She is survived by: husband, Douglas; five children, Sharon Possanza of Norton Shores, William Zuidema of Grand Rapids, Christine Zuidema of Raleigh, NC, Mary (Keith) Hunting of Grand Rapids and Douglas (Lisa) Zuidema II of Norton Shores; six grandchildren, Jennifer and Jessica Possanza and Jack, Abigail, Elizabeth and Camille Zuidema; two brothers, Peter Cotton of North Carolina and Howard (Chanssa) Cotton of Medford, OR and two sisters, Shirley Gleason of Talent, OR and Joan Port of Muskegon. The Mass of Christian Burial will be held at: St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 239 W. Clay Ave. Muskegon, 11:00 A.M., Tuesday, January 19, 2010, Fr. Matthew J. Barnum presiding. Visitation will be held at: The Lee Chapel, Sytsema Funeral Homes, Inc. 6291 S. Harvey St. 231-798-1100 Monday afternoon, 2-4 P.M. Evening visitation will begin with a Scripture Service at 6:00 P.M. with visitation concluding at eight o’clock. Interment: St. Mary’s Cemetery. Memorial Contributions: Johnson Family Center for Cancer Care or St. Mary’s Church.
