Julia Perez's Obituary
Julia Perez, age 73, passed away Monday morning, June 25, 2018. She was born June 1, 1945 in St. Croix, U.S. Virgin Islands to Catalino Navarro and Marcela Gomez. Mrs. Perez earned her Master’s Degree in Spanish from Western Michigan University and was a Professor at Muskegon Community College, teaching Spanish for over 20 years prior to her retirement. In 1973, she married Andres Perez in Puerto Rico. She enjoyed traveling, watching western movies, and was also an avid reader. SURVIVORS include her husband, Andres; two children: Eric Perez, Erika Perez; two grandchildren: Antonio and Isabela Perez; mother, Marcela Gomez; brother, Efrain Cintron; three sisters: Benita Figueroa, Antonia Navarro, Candita Figueroa; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father, Catalino Navarro; two brothers: Marcelo and Jorge Navarro; and a sister, Sara. SERVICES will be 1:00 PM Thursday, June 28, 2018 at The Sytsema Chapel, 737 Apple Ave., (231) 726-5210, with Pastor Duane Bennett officiating. VISITATION with the family will be from 4:00 PM – 8:00 PM Wednesday, June 27, 2018 and from 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM on Thursday. Burial will take place in Norton Cemetery.
