June D. Van Hemert's Obituary
On Sunday, March 19, 2023, June Delores Van Hemert, age 93, passed away and went to be with her Lord and Savior. June was born on February 20, 1930, in Muskegon, MI, to her parents Jay and Mildred (Johnson) Vanderlaan. She graduated from Muskegon High School in 1948 and spent the rest of her life in the Muskegon area. On June 23, 1956, she married Dr. Kenneth Van Hemert DDS, and they spent 49 wonderful years together before he preceded her in death in 2005. June was involved in various committees and groups at Bethany CRC, and she was also a member of the Muskegon Dental Auxiliary. She was a good cook and a talented seamstress, making clothes for her family. More than anything, June enjoyed spending time with her grandson, Anthony, supporting him in many hockey and football games over the years. June will be lovingly remembered by her three children: Kenneth J. Van Hemert, Cynthia K. Van Hemert, and Kathleen J. Bordeaux; one grandson, Anthony (Amanda) Bordeaux; three great-grandchildren: Kyla, Keira, and Kameron; three siblings: Dale (Nancy) Vanderlaan, Robert (Ann) Vanderlaan, and Mary (David) Pederson; sister in-law, Muriel Thompson; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Jay and Mildred Vanderlaan, and her husband, Dr. Kenneth Van Hemert DDS. A FUNERAL SERVICE will be held for June at 11:00 AM on Thursday, March 23, 2023, at The Lee Chapel of Sytsema Funeral & Cremation Services, 6291 Harvey St, Norton Shores, MI, 49444, with VISITATION taking place an hour prior.
