June I. Hawkins' Obituary
Miss June I. Hawkins, age 84, passed away in Muskegon on Tuesday July 25, 2006. She was born on June 17, 1922 to Mendel and Irene (Huebner) Hawkins in Bay City, MI and was a resident of the Muskegon area the past 30 years. June was a member of Crestwood United Methodist Church. She served in the United States Army as an Army Nurse. Prior to her retirement in 1987, she worked at Mercy Hospital as the Medical Record Administrator. She was past president of the State Organization of the Medical Record Association and was a volunteer for the Red Cross for 20 years, the Frauenthal Center, and Mercy Hospital. She also was active in the Women’s Altrusa Group for 25 years. SURVIVORS include 2 sisters, Norma (Matthew) Sloan of Bay City, MI and Patricia Grein of Spring Hill, FL; 6 nieces and nephews, Ron (Elaine) Embrey, Janet (David) Richards, Michael (Tonia) Grein, Brad Grein (special friend, Karen), Julie Grein, Kelley (Lee) Daughtry; 9 grand-nieces and nephews, 6 great-grand nieces and nephews and two special friends, Karen Simons and Sue Fox. Miss Hawkins was preceded in death by one niece, Laura Grein. A MEMORIAL SERVICE will be held 11 AM Saturday, August 19, 2006 at Crestwood United Methodist Church, 1220 Creston, Muskegon, MI 49442 with Ron Robotham officiating. Burial will take place at Elm Lawn Cemetery, Bay City, MI.
