June Ione Adkisson's Obituary
Mrs. June I. Adkisson, age 87, died Thursday morning, November 12, 2009, in Muskegon. She was born June 26, 1922 in Fremont, Michigan to Lawrence Hans and Ida (Zuidema) Buitendorp; and had resided in the Muskegon area since 1934. On May 18, 1957 she married Ernest H. Adkisson and he preceded her in death on July 31, 2000. She was also preceded in death by her 2 sisters, Kathryn Dake and Lois Jensen. During World War II, June played the guitar and sang with her sister Kathryn as they traveled the Midwest performing. June had been employed at Teledyne Continental Motors for over 30 years prior to her retirement; and had attended Hope Reformed Church. SURVIVORS include her brother, Russell Buitendorp of Muskegon; 1 niece, Marcia (Tom) Gillespie of Muskegon and by 2 nephews, Randy (Kim) Buitendorp of Portage, MI and Mark (Kathy) Jensen of Grand Rapids. There will be no visitation or public services. Private interment will be in Sunrise Memorial Gardens.
