Justin R. McKee's Obituary
McKee, Justin Roger of Muskegon, passed away on July 5, 2025, at the age of 43. He was born in Muskegon, Michigan, on February 13, 1982, to the proud parents of Roger and Mari-Lee McKee. He grew up on the shores of Lake Michigan and loved nothing better than to be on the water or fishing. Quality time with family and friends was what Justin enjoyed the most. He graduated from Whitehall High School in 2000. In August 2006, he married the love of his life, Sarah Peterson. They shared 19 amazing years together and welcomed two beautiful sons into this world, Lukas (14) and Maverick (8). He earned his bachelor's degree in industrial technology from Baker College in 2006. He worked as an engineer at Howmet Aerospace for many years. Following in his Grandfather Pete’s (“The Sandman”) footsteps, he most recently began his dream job working for Sand Products, a McKee family business. Justin will be remembered as a hardworking and dedicated husband, father, son, and friend. Justin shared his love for food by making homemade meals and smoking meats for all his family and friends. He had many hobbies – woodworking, fishing, camping, handyman, wrenching on anything with a motor – his ’59 Chevy Apache was a project he took great pride in. Justin was described as smart, easy-going, charismatic, loving, compassionate, and calm. He always knew how to make someone else laugh or feel good.
Justin is survived by his loving wife, Sarah McKee; sons, Lukas and Maverick McKee; parents, Roger and Mari-Lee McKee; in-laws, Steve Peterson and Lee Peterson; brother, Cameron McKee; sister and brother in-laws, Julie (Chris) Aebig, Rachel (Michael) Rowan, and Ryan (Jamie) Peterson. He also leaves behind many close relatives and dear friends.
A Celebration of Life is being organized by family and friends to honor Justin’s life well-lived.
