Karen E. Bourdon's Obituary
Karen Emily Bourdon, age 81, passed away peacefully in Muskegon, MI, on Tuesday, January 21, 2025. Karen was born in Muskegon on January 20, 1944, to Chester and Evelyn (Peterson) Olejarczyk. Karen worked as a self-employed hairdresser for many years, retiring in 2001. She was very involved in her community and was a member at the VFW #446, the Moose Lodge, and the Lakeside Eagles. Over the years she served as a volunteer for Mona Shores and Muskegon Catholic Central concession stands, the Parent Teacher Association at Bunker, and the Band and Orchestra Association at Muskegon High School. Karen was also involved with Every Women’s Place, housing women and their families. She was involved in Girl Scouting when her daughters were young and assisted with their meetings. Karen was an avid reader. She enjoyed playing Bingo and playing cards with her friends.
Karen will be lovingly remembered by her two daughters: Colleen Mars and Kathy Mars; two grandsons: Matthew Mars (Qianyang He); and Nathan Mars; and six siblings: Dave (Linda) Olejarczyk, John Olejarczyk, Dennis Olejarczyk, Kenneth Olejarczyk, Ruthann Fekken, and Jean Kidd. She was preceded in death by her parents, and four siblings: Allen Peterson, Phillip Olejarczyk, Michael Olejarczyk, and Sonia Johnson.
Per Karen’s wishes, no public arrangements are being held at this time. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The Harbor Hospice Foundation. Arrangements by the Lee Chapel of Sytsema Funeral & Cremation Services, 6291 Harvey St, Norton Shores, MI, 49444.
